Lela is an author who enjoys writing informative, and uplifting stories for both children and adults. A philanthropist, and an advocate for literacy; she is the founder of The Lela Initiative. Her books so far include:

Author and Illustrator

Sarah Hutchinson-Jarman is a poet, author, and illustrator. Originally from Britain, she grew up in the Middle East and returned to England to study Creative Writing and English Studies. After having children, Sarah wrote a successful blog on parenting, with many amusing poems and parodies thrown in. Some of these made it into her tongue-in-cheek parenting book Poo Poo Parenting. She is the editor of the book ‘Ashes of Childhood’ by Lela Burbridge and the author ‘Frog Finds Home’, a picture book. Her first novel The Funeral is due for publication in June 2024.

Illustrator

Claire Pinfold is an artist and illustrator based in the Cotswolds. She studied Art and Design at collage, before continuing her studies in Fashion Design. Claire is a mother of two and also a trained EYFS practitioner. She uses her creativity and skills to help the children in her care develop their own imaginations and creations. Alongside working at her local school, Claire paints from her home studio, where she specialises in commissioned watercolour pieces.

Author

Suzy is in the process of writing her a series of picture books, inspired by stories from her childhood told by her father. Her first book, Pablo the Pleasing Parrot, came out in 2023. A primary teacher by trade, with a Master of Arts in Education, Suzy is passionate about writing for children. She is the in-house editor for The Lela Initiative. Suzy lives in the Cotswolds with her husband and two children.
